Walmart Announces Their 8 Finalists for Mother of the Year #MOTY

You might remember my last post announcing that Walmart was accepting submissions for their Mother of the Year Award. This is a fantastic promotion recognizing mothers for everything they do and for everything they are. The award comes with a great cash prize of $10,000 with another $100,000 going to the winner’s charity of choice.

During the submission stage, we demonstrated just how much Canada loves it’s moms. A total of 16,909 entries were posted by children, husbands, friends and other family members and I can’t imagine it was easy coming up with eight finalists out of that amazing group of women. It has been announced and the eight finalists are all on Walmart’s www.momoftheyear.ca website for you to see.I read through each one of these stories and every single one of them are deserving of the top title. There is a story in there that we can all relate to. There are moms who are championing for their children, mothers who are fighting their own battle with their health while still helping others, moms who have risen up in the face of loss to help friends and strangers look toward a more promising future, and moms who make a difference not only in the lives of their families, but in the lives of strangers in their community and around the world. One thing I found that all of these moms have in common is their benevolence and their capacity for love which seems to be endless.

These moms are all truly inspiring.

Each of the finalists will receive $10,000 for themselves and $10,000 for the charity that is listed. The finalists are all up on the website now along with all of the other 16,901 entries that were received which are all equally beautiful to read.
