The BiLLe Best Blogger Canada

I have been going through a range of emotions since Wednesday afternoon. This was when The BiLLe’s Best Blogger Canada competition came to a close and I received a call from Antigua to congratulate me on winning. The BiLLe is an online Euro lottery that is operated out of Antigua (which happens to have the strictest online gaming laws in the world).

I feel like I am in a little void right now, looking back and looking ahead.

I feel like I just finished reading an intense book and I’ve closed the last chapter and finally put it down. I’m going over in my mind all of the amazing experiences I had and every lesson I learned.

I also feel like my next book is calling my name. It is an adventure, and it is going to be amazing. I can’t wait to pick it up and get started on the first chapter of my next story.

But this isn’t a story. I am rendered speechless every time I begin to grasp what this all means for me, my family, my dreams, my new team and everyone that we will interact with over this next year. My new adventure really has the ability to change lives, it is changing ours already.

So to give you a little inside info on what went down after I was notified. A press conference was held and I made my way down to the location pretty quickly with my dad and my oldest daughter in tow (who was awesome, by the way, and who only pulled up her dress to show her underwear two times #proudmom).

I think I may have been in a mild state of shock on Wednesday as I was trying to mentally take pictures so I could remember and enjoy the experience.

After all of this time, I was excited to finally meet some of The BiLLe team which only made me that much more excited that I had won as they are all really great group of people who have big goals that include doing a whole lot of good in this world.

Yes. I have a larger than life sized check sitting in my home office. I’ve always wanted one of these. Don’t judge me!

During the press conference, I was presented with my winnings and it was announced that all four of the charities that the semi-finalists had done their videos on were given a donation by The BiLLe so I had the honour of presenting a donation of 10,000 Euros (approx $12,300 CDN) to The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. This was beyond amazing and I was so glad that I had chosen to feature The Stollery in my video.

After the conference was over, I had the chance to talk with some media on camera, in print and on the radio.

And once I got home, one daughter wanted dinner (like, yesterday!), the other wanted to run around pants-less and I was immediately grounded again.

I had the chance to sit down with some of the team yesterday (Thursday) and in addition to what I had imagined doing, I found out that there are so many other wonderful projects on the horizon.

So, where do I go from here? I will be blogging on The BiLLe Blog and working with everyone to role out some of new initiatives that I am excited to be a part of.

My website, Facebook Page and Twitter handle (@ThisBirdsDay) and all other social networks that I operate under Sheri Landry / This Bird’s Day are still my own and do not reflect the ideas, opinions of The BiLLe. I will share info on them here from time to time and update you on my behind-the-scenes work at The BiLLe, but I am not required to use my website on behalf of The BiLLe.

I want to thank everyone who sent through words of support and congratulations on Facebook, Twitter, and through email. I am reading everything as it comes in and am responding as quickly as I can.

I also want to welcome everyone who may be new to this site and came by to check me out. Thanks for taking the time to drop in.

  1. That is so great Sheri!! Congrats to you! I am even more proud of you because you are an Edmontonian, and did our city proud, and you didn’t have to be loud or bombard people with emails to vote for you and jump threw hoops to help you get there, you just did what you do best and won!!! Is this the one that all the video’s were for? Don’t know much about these things but on a better note, did you win $100,000 euros? If so how much is that in dollars? Just asking because they had the euro sign on the cheque! If so even more congrats on a life changing win:) Hope your blog stays the same:)
