I always like to feature products that are already a part of my family’s daily life so when I was contacted by a representative of Smucker’s, I was pretty happy. Our family already enjoys Smucker’s No Sugar Added Strawberry Jam and I was looking forward to trying out their fruit spreads as well.
I have to admit that I never really thought about cooking or baking with jam. I pretty much use it on toast. I was surprised to find a lot of really great recipes for any time of the day at Smuckers.ca. If you get a second to check it out, they also have a promotions section (contests) and some helpful tips.
So here is my history with Smucker’s. About three years ago now, around the time that our oldest began ‘eating what we eat’, our family made a shift towards more informed food consumption. I spent (literally) hours in the grocery store reading the ingredients and nutrition labels on all of our old foods. It was at this time that I said goodbye to the jam I had been eating since I was a child and picked up my first jar of the Smucker’s No Sugar Added Strawberry Jam. I really appreciated that it was made with all-natural ingredients and ‘sugar’ (or any preservatives) was not in the ingredients list. We haven’t bought a different brand of jam since, and I am in good company because Smucker’s is the leading brand in jams, jellies and marmalades category in Canada.
In short, here are some of the great reasons to try Smucker’s Fruit Spreads:
- Sweetened with organic evaporated cane juice and white grape juice concentrate
- Full of delicious fruit
- Has no preservatives, artificial colours or flavours
- Like all Smucker’s® jams and fruit spreads, fruit is the first ingredient in Smucker’s® Simple Blends™ fruit spreads.
There are three different Fruit Spreads in this product line:
- Summer Fruit: a delicious blend of strawberry, red cherry and raspberry

We ended up making the French Toast Fruit Kabobs with Dip recipe (<–click link for the full recipe). We took out the butter and Egg Creations from the recipe on the website and in their place added 2 eggs, 1 tbsp milk and 1/4 tsp cinnamon. As you can see in my picture above versus the thumb on the main page, we also omitted the skewers. That is an accident waiting to happen with two kids under the age of 5 at the table.
