I first met Heather through an online forum for bloggers a couple of years ago and we took to each other right away.We kept in touch online and through email and I finally had the chance to meet her in March in Edmonton.
Heather is the type of person who supports those around her. She is great at connecting friends and contacts with each other to form quality working relationships and she is very giving with her knowledge and time.
Heather is a Calgary blogger and she is the owner and author at HomeToHeather.com where she posts about local content, her family and anything else that she feels like. She also posts the occasional review and feature post. In addition to her website, she also owns BestCalgaryBlogs.com where she showscases her fellow Calgarian bloggers. I had the chance to ask her a few questions about herself and blogging.

Why did you start your blog?
I started blogging in 2004 and have had a few incarnations since…Home To Heather came about in Jan of 2010. I started Home To Heather mostly to have an outlet for myself and I always hoped it would turn into a small business – which it has.
What do you love and hate about blogging?
I love having something that is mine. I love having somewhere to write because I love writing. I hate having to explain to people what it is I do because it can get confusing even to myself!
What suggestions or advice can you offer to anyone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Don’t compare yourselves to others and feel like you need to do what they are doing to be successful. Be true to yourself and make your own way.
What are your three favourite personal posts?
The Best Night
Today Was Not a Good Mommy Day
At Least There Was A Bacon Wrapped Bright Side
What three qualities do you think make you a great blogger?
I feel I have decent writing skills. I try to pick the funny out of every day situations and I try to write things I’d want to read myself…even when it’s sponsored content.
Thank you Heather for taking some time to answer my questions for this post. We’ll chat soon.
