Blogger Profile: SaveMoneyInWinnipeg.com (Nadine)

I met Nadine online a few years ago. She sent me an email and asked me to assist her with some design items on her website (I used to design Blogger blogs). We began chatting back and forth, and since she was located in my old hometown, I was able to drop in for a visit a couple of years ago, and we have kept in touch ever since.

As you can tell from her website, Nadine is located in Winnipeg. Her website shares amazing information and tips on personal financial issues such as coupons, stacking policies, deals, sales and a whole lot of excellent local content. She was a 2011 Weblog Nominee and the recipient of a grant from MomCentral in 2011.

I got the chance to ask Nadine a couple of questions to help introduce you to her. Make sure you stop by for a visit at SaveMoneyInWinnipeg.com.

Q: Why did you start your blog?
A: I started blogging to share the deals I found, thinking it would be good to reach a few friends and maybe just a few other people. I never imagined there were so many deal seekers in Manitoba, and it’s been great to get to know so many others. It’s become a great collective of smart shoppers.

Q: What was the most you saved in one shopping trip?
A: The most I’ve saved in one shopping trip is in the 90% off range. You can coupon stack at London Drugs, and sometimes I’ve scored amazing deals at Safeway or Shopper’s Drugmart. All stores have to clear out products at certain times of the year, keep an eye on the products your family uses. Combining a clearance price and a coupon often means free stuff.

Q: What are your favourite posts of your own?
My favourite posts are often ones where someone emails me to find out an answer. I’ll look into it, and it’s not always the answer people want or expect though, as in the case of dumpster diving or stores rules.

Q: Do you have a pet peeve about blogging?
A: My pet peeve and advice to a new blogger are about the same, personalize it a bit. If you read a blog and it’s only reviews and no personal info it’s like watching a long, never ending commercial. I like reading blogs where the writer has real opinions and there’s some back and forth.

Q: How do you find the motivation to blog daily?
A: My motivation to blog daily fluctuates, some days there amazing deals to post that I can’t wait to share. Other days I get so many great tips from emails and Facebook messages that I also rush to post those up too. Every blogger goes through slumps, or life gets crazy for a while so you can’t be too upset with yourself when you miss a day here or there. With twitter and Facebook so easy to access some days I’ll just post stuff on there if it’s something small. People’s emails and comments really keep me motivated too, and I love seeing people help each other to find the best deals on stuff everyone needs.

Thank you Nadine for taking the time to answer my questions. Make sure you check her site out and say hi.
