Holiday Must Have: Kodak EasyShare Touch Camera #Giveaway

This year, our holidays are going to be spent with our extended family. We live 14 hours away from them and we are flying home to spend the holidays with both sides of our family. We will also be having our new daughter’s baptism during our visit back home. Everyone around here is so excited.

Our holidays back home are always filled with family, friends, old traditions, new memories and a lot of laughs. If I could only take one item back home with me, it would be a camera. Capturing those ‘had to be there’ moments on video or photo is so important for so many reasons.

I have been trying out the KODAK EasyShare Touch camera for the past week, and I am in love. In a nutshell, it is made by KODAK, it is EASY to use, it has amazing SHARE capabilities through social networks and the features are accessed through a TOUCH screen. Thus the name.

I want to start with my favorite feature; its share capabilities through social networks and email. There is an application that you can load and configure when the camera is attached to your computer and you can set up your preferences and accounts. Once it is set up, sharing your photos and videos as you take is then done with the touch of a button on the camera and it supports social options such as email, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Youtube, Orkut and a few more. There is also a tagging feature right on the camera that will transfer the tagged information right into your Facebook account.

I can’t wait to get back home, take a picture and have someone say “Can you email me that one?”, only to have me reply “Sure, what is your email address, I’ll set it up to send it to you right now and you’ll get it when I load them on the computer.” Then, the next time I load my pictures to our computer, not only will it load all of my images and videos in to my library, it will also perform all of the tasks assigned to each image.

Another reason that I absolutely adore this feature is because I have always wanted to have a Flickr account, and also upload more photos to my Facebook and Twitter accounts. Our main computer is located in the basement, so I used to have to wait until I got the time to head downstairs to load all of my photos, then I never had the time to further share them on all of my networks. Now, I can head out for a day with our girls, take photos, and when we get home and they are sleeping in the backseat, I can go through my favorites and assign them to my various social networks and email them to family. Then the next time we load our pictures, they get added and emailed on their own. If I could request one additional place to ‘share’ the photos, it would be to WordPress. That would really make things easy for me.

The camera has different film effects such as Kodacolor, Ektachrome, Kodachrome, a couple of black & white options and sepia. My favorite effect is the Ektachrome which gives an amazing bright finish as you can see in the photo below.

There are also a number of scene modes that allow you to select the best setting, there are a total of 18 different exposure options such as Backlight, Night Portrait, Children, Panorama, Landscape and more. I took this picture using the Blur Reduction setting and it worked out really well on the wings of the bird.

Another favorite feature for me is the Touch Screen capabilities. Instead of loading the camera up with buttons that take up a lot of space, the EasyShare Touch is mostly used by touching the screen itself. With a tap on the screen, you can change the settings, delete photos, add them to your social networks, take photos and more. By adding these features right in to the screen and not on the side, there is more room for a larger screen.
