Seventh Generation has launched a new program called ‘Buy One, Give One’. You may recall that I posted about their cleaning and baby supplies last month.
Because of my post, I am lucky enough to be a part of this new diaper donation initiative. Seventh Generation is aiming to donate 240,000 diapers to 40 shelters across many of the provinces in Canada, including three each on Calgary and Edmonton, and one in Red Deer. That’s a whopping $160,000 worth of diapers going to people who really need them.
As part of my involvement in this great cause, I was sent four packages of diapers to give away where I believe they are needed. I chose to donate them to our local Parent Link Centre and I asked that they specifically be distributed in their TALKS Program (Teen parents Achieving Lifelong Knowledge and Success). This is a program that helps pregnant and parenting teens. The Parent Link Centre is open to anyone who needs help or guidance in parenting. They offer numerous daytime play dates, crafts and other activities and they have a lot of books, and other materials that you can either borrow or have to help you at different stages of your child’s development.
We take advantage of some of their daytime workshops and play times. It is a great way to get us out of the house, you can pick up reading material and your child has the chance to play with others in their age group.
You can get in on the diaper donation program as well by visiting your local store and picking up a pack of diapers to drop off somewhere that you believe can really use them.
Make sure you drop by the Seventh Generation website and sign up to become a mamber. Privileges include coupons for discounts, tips for greener living and updates on new products and programs as they are available. You can also like Seventh Generation on Facebook to stay in the know and participate in Facebook community discussions.
