The whirlwind that was ‘the holidays’ have come and gone and if you are like me, the tornado that was cake, cookies, chocolates, candy canes, etc has left you trying to pick up the pieces of your former pre-holiday self. Then comes the new year, new choices and a new start.

I was excited to hear that I was reviewing the new book, The Phytozyme Cure by Dr. Michelle Schoffro Cook to review. I don’t believe that there is one book out there that can fix everything that ails you, but I am a firm believer that if you take what works for you from many different books and resources, you can improve your health and right off the bat, I learned things that I didn’t know and it prompted me to add a New Year’s resolution that I hadn’t thought of before — chewing.

Since starting the book, I have resolved to pay attention to my chewing, sounds odd, I know, but I found that I don’t actually chew my food often enough. Not sure if I was always like this, or if it just happened since I had our daughter as I find myself racing to finish meals so I can help her out. Even in a couple of instances I found I chewed something three times before swallowing it – that can’t be good for my body — sorry digestive system!

I hadn’t actually thought of why I had to chew and this book made so much sense when it explained it to me. So now, I pay more attention and chewing is now something I am actually trying to train myself to do. Ya, I know, sounds weird to me too.

In short, Phytozyme Therapy uses phytonutrients and enzymes, and vitamins and minerals to help your body strengthen it’s immune system and prepares it to better fight off infection and illnesses. There are no chemicals to take and the food where you find everything is all-natural.

The book itself is a wealth of knowledge in vitamins and minerals and includes signs of what to look out for should you be deficient in any of them. The book also includes a chart where you can determine which enzymes you may be lacking, and then further determine which group your fall in to (Carb, Fat, Protein or Combination). I fall in to two groups and I agree with them both.

The part I found most interesting was when I read about how the food you crave the most is probably what you are deficient in, and the reason you crave it is because since you lack the enzymes to break it down properly, you probably want more of it to make up for what you think you are not getting. The best part about this is that the book also includes suggestions for other foods that you can eat that will give your body what it needs to break the craving cycle.

In addition to all of this, the book also lists 30 common health problems as well as ways to naturally protect yourself or to help combat them. The first health condition I looked up was bang on and said that I should be following the two groups that I am deficient in, and since I was not following them my chances for problems was increased which is completely accurate.

If you are looking for a natural way to improve your health, regain energy and protect yourself from illness, then this is a great book to read.

And I have a copy of the book to giveaway. One lucky reader will win their very own copy of The Phytozyme Cure.

Frankly, my life needs an overhaul so I have a lot of little resolutions for this year. But one of them is eating at home and home cooked meals so that I can control what goes into my body. Plus, I also learn how to cook better! Please accept this as my mandatory entry. Thank you!
