The Tickle Trunk – Holiday Gift Guide

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
Here’s a little secret about me. I love fun, unique items that aren’t found in every household. When I came across The Tickle Trunk, I was like a kid in a candy store.

The Tickle Trunk is a Canadian company that sells 18/8 stainless steel products. Carolyn, the owner of The Tickle Trunk also owns Onyx which manufactures all of the items that are sold on The Tickle Trunk.

With so many concerns about plastics today, stainless steel is a good alternative for holding and storing food. We were sent an ONYX Popsicle Mold to review and this made for a fun mommy/daughter day. The popsicle molds are 18/8 stainless steel and are made so that once frozen, they can be removed one at a time so the unused popsicles remain untouched.

So many liquids can be made in to popsicles, but we chose to make Fruit Smoothie Popsicles. We used some yogurt, orange juice and some fruit we had left over from the summer that we froze for a special occaision (like mother/daughter fruit smoothie making day!).

We mixed up the smoothies, then filled the popsicle molds and left some room at the top for expansion. The popsicle molds come with a metal plate that covers the top of the mold, plus some silicone rings to hold the popsicle in place. We placed the molds in the stand it comes with to hold them upright and froze them for a couple of hours.

When we were ready for our snack, we pulled one out of the stand and ran it under some hot water for a few seconds. Being stainless steel it doesn’t take long to loosen, just a few seconds. Once the popsicle was out, the mold rinsed out so easily.

The popsicles turned out great. Knowing all of the ingredients that went in to our frozen treats is also a plus. Baby Bird and I were supposed to ‘share’ the popsicle but on the end I think I may have only gotten about 10% of it.

The Tickle Trunk carries a wide range of other products as well from bowls and cups to retro ice cube trays.
