I have become a huge fan of wall art this year. It is a great way to transform a room on a small budget and if you decide to change your style down the road, it is easily removable.
Recently I was introduced to Evosis, a wonderful Canadian company based in Calgary that specializes in wall decorations for all room types. Their designs are fresh, fun and colourful and I was excited to receive the Dino Growth Chart to review.
Evosis Design Inc. was created by two designers who are influenced by fashion and interior decorating. While trying to decorate their own homes, and unhappy with the choices available, they decided that they could create the type of designs they were looking for.
Not ready to spend an interior designer’s budget to get an interior designer look? Evosis is the answer. Their designs are affordable and with little effort can personalize any room and make it stand out.
In addition to their own designs, they also offer designs that are created by other designers around the world to provide us with more options to choose from.
Their products are packaged really well for shipping, and I received my wall art with no imperfections or folding due to their sturdy packages.
We have a spot in the basement that is meant for Baby Bird. We spend a lot of time down there on rainy days and will spend even more once the snow flies in the winter so we have been wanting to decorate it in a way that announces that corner of the basement as her own. This is what her corner looked like.
We just kind of put all of her toys there. Not the most kid-fun, I know — but that will soon change.
When it came time to opening the package, I waited until Baby Bird was out of the basement. My big tip for wall art is to wait until you have some time on your own. Little fingers and curious minds can equal destruction in a project like this.
I spread everything out on the floor to get an idea of what I was going to do. The stickers come in three layers. The base is white and temporarily holds the stickers on and prevents debris from getting on your stickers. The second layer is your sticker, what will end up on the wall when all is said and done. And the top is a sticky clear layer that allows you to transfer the sticker to the wall and place it.
Some of the stickers in this particular package are placed just right to avoid extra work if you don’t want to do it. For example, the dots on the back of the dinosaur are placed on the paper in the order that they can go on the dinosaur’s body so you can just put them all on together, at once.
The clear layer is also measured correctly so you can line it up along the floor and put it on. Since this is a growth chart, it is important to have the height just right.
For the largest sections; the bottom of the body, the neck/head and the dots, I asked Papa Bird to hold it while I positioned everything. The rest I was able to do all on my own. I had to reposition one small part after sticking it to the wall and it removed easily and was placed back on without problem however I wouldn’t try that with one of the bigger pieces, so take your time.
The end result was amazing. Standing about 10 feet back, it actually looks like it could be painted on. Baby Bird sat with Papa Bird near the end to give final direction and we decided to make one fun change to the image.
The package comes with lettering that reads “Dino Growth Chart”. Baby Bird had already decided to call it Dino so that was great, I put Dino up. The two spectators were making growling sounds like dinosaurs while I was finishing up. Looking at the remaining letters, I took four of the letters out and spelled “ROAR” and placed it near his mouth.
I put him up mostly on one wall but wrapped a small section around on to a second wall to include the whole area. I have some after pictures here and will be adding the rest of her ‘kid room’ later.
Their selection is huge and my favorite themes are the Kids & Nursery and the Nature & Floral.
