On July 13, 2010, Nick Jr. will be releasing Nick Jr. Favorites: The First Day of School on DVD. Featuring five of Nickelodeon’s most loved pre-school TV characters and their friends, this DVD helps kids to prepare for their very first day at school and reminds them that everyone goes to school at some point.
Starting school for young children can be a difficult time. Proper preparation and planting seeds early can help to ease some children’s fears of what school is. I am happy to see that Nick Jr has come out with a school-focused DVD.
As a child, Nickelodeon is just fun to watch. As a parent, I like these themed DVDs because I can make a point of sitting down at a certain time to watch a show and have a discussion with my child to further drive home that school should be viewed in a positive light and that learning is a lot of fun. I plant these seeds early so I can come back and reinforce them later – not one day before school starts, but at different times well before her first day so that she is ready, prepared and looking forward to it.
If you know someone who will be starting school soon, or who has trouble with their first days going back, I suggest trying this out early and using the summer to start planting seeds and getting them excited about getting back to their classes. Or, if you just know someone who likes Nick Jr, I suggest picking this up as the episodes on it are a lot of fun to watch!
The episodes included in this DVD are:
- Dora the Explorer: First Day of School
- Go, Diego, Go!: Linda the Librarian
- Blue’s Clues: Blues Takes You to School
- Wonder Pets!: Off to School / Save the Pangaroo
- Ni Hao, Kai-Lan: Lulu Day
This DVD is will be released on July 13, but is available right now for preorder online at Amazon.ca for $13.49 and at Amazon.com for $12.99.
