Shortly after having Baby Bird, I started to get red, patchy skin on my hands and face. I immediately recognized it as eczema because I had it when I was younger.

Baby Bird has had her eczema pretty much since birth and it seems to get worse when it’s hot out or if she is very active. Her eczema is on her legs and it breaks my heart to see her little legs red and bumpy during her breakouts.

In an effort to deal with our eczema without chemicals or drugs, I set off to find a solution. I was looking for something we could both use and was hoping to find something natural. I did.

I found Hazelaid, a company started by parents who were trying to help ease their third child’s suffering from severe eczema. Eczema and some other skin conditions are caused by a build up of acid in your system. Hazelwood is an alkaline-based wood and through contact with the skin, it absorbs and neutralizes the acid in your system. And lucky for us, Hazelaid sells their products in adult and children sizes.

I was excited to try it on both myself and my daughter. I was offered a necklace to review and also chose to purchase a couple of additional necklaces.

For my daughter, I got her the Natural Gemstone Beads necklace in Hazelwood and Rose Quartz and the Cognac Hazel-Amber necklace. I told her that we were going to be receiving necklaces and that we would match and she was pretty excited. For myself, I chose the Honey Hazel-Amber necklace and the Hazel-Amber Multicolor necklace. One for more dressy occasions.

As soon as we received our package, the necklaces went on both of us. I keep my necklace on 24 hours a day. Because Baby Bird is two, we worry about choking still during sleep, so for now it comes off at night, then back on in the morning (often before she even gets her diaper changed).

Since wearing the necklace, Baby Bird’s eczema has become barely noticeable. On days where we’ve been busy and forgotten to put it on, I’ve noticed the difference at the end of the day.

She proudly wore it in to her daycare on the first day and showed everyone in her group and she loves to wear it, often reminding me in the morning that her outfit is not complete because her little bling-bling has not been put on.

For me, I noticed the red bumps on my eyes, lip, nose and hands disappeared within a couple of days of wearing it. I no longer have the burning, itchy full-on eczema and we were able to find relief naturally.

Each necklace lasts approximately 6 months before it has absorbed enough acid that it can no longer function. When ours run out, I will be ordering more. It’s the perfect accessory. Anyone near me who doesn’t know the story thinks it’s ‘just another necklace’. It doesn’t stand out as something I need for medical reasons and my daughter has gotten a lot of compliments on her necklace. She loves showing it off.
