Nick Jr. just released Max & Ruby: A Visit With Grandma on DVD today. Included in this DVD are four Max & Ruby episodes with three vignettes in each for a total of 12 short stories.
For anyone who hasn’t seen an episode yet, the show revolves around the lives of a younger, carefree brother (Max) and an older, responsible sister (Ruby). During each show Max is always saying a word. Its the same word throughout the show. During the show, Ruby is going about her day, either playing or trying to solve a problem. At the end of the show, Max’s word always seems to be the one thing that Ruby needed to complete what she was doing or looking for.
Baby Bird likes Max & Ruby and really enjoyed this DVD. It is one of the top ones she asks for when we take time out for TV. I think she likes it because she can relate to Ruby. Both are caring, responsible and motherly.
I get a kick out of Max’s facial expressions when Ruby ignores him or discounts what he has said or done. I also like that Ruby keeps her cool when things go wrong as it is a good lesson for Baby Bird as she grows up.
The episodes included in this DVD are:
- Grandma’s Treasure Hunt
- Ruby’s Jigsaw Puzzle
- Ruby’s Recital
- Ruby’s Rainbow
- Ruby’s Home Tweet Home
- Max’s Mudpie
- Ruby’s Missing Tune
- Ruby’s Home Run
- Ruby’s Handstand
- Ruby’s Good Neighbor
- Candy Counting
- Ruby’s New Shoes
This DVD is now available for purchase online at Amazon.ca for $15.99 and at Amazon.com for $11.99.
