I have a couple of wonderful charities that I am going to shamelessly promote today. I chose one Canadian and on US – just so I could get all of you guys involved!
The first is the Edmonton Stollery Children’s Hospital. If you haven’t heard of them, please click the link to find out more. The Stollery has such a special place in my heart. Two very dear friends of ours have relied on the caring support and extensive expertise of the hospital and staff pretty much since their beautiful daughter was born in 2008.
I know I have a couple of readers as well who understand the importance of a place like the Stollery and that is why this is my favorite Canadian charity.
This Sunday, our two friends and their daughter will be walking (and riding in the stroller) to raise money during the Edmonton Mother’s Day Run & Walk. Baby Bird and I proudly joined them last year, but this year we will be away. Instead we will support them by pledging and I wanted to share their online pledge form with you in case you have been wanting to donate as well. If you do pledge, we thank you. Online pledges can be made until Sunday.
My friend’s (Krista) ONLINE PLEDGE FORM.
Now on to our neighbours down South. I’ve recently been made aware of a wonderful charity called Stand Up 2 Cancer (SU2C) and I want to share them with you.
SU2C’s goal is to bring together the best and the brightest in the cancer community, encouraging collaboration instead of competition. By galvanizing the entertainment industry, SU2C creates awareness and builds broad public support for this effort.
SU2C’s Executive Producer and Co-Founder Laura Ziskin has produced films from PRETTY WOMAN to AS GOOD AS IT GETS to SPIDER MAN, as well as being the first woman to produce the Academy Awards in 2002, but she is also a cancer survivor.
Inspired by her experience, she was driven to co-create Stand Up To Cancer: to see her story, as well as to learn more about how Stand Up to Cancer is breaking barriers of innovation in cancer research, please watch her interview.
Please drop by their site to learn more about what they are doing and accomplishing. You can also donate to SU2C using their online form.
