Word out of Ottawa is the federal Tories are planning to announce the elimination of coupon stacking in Canada. From what I’ve read, it’s being done as a cost saving measure to help Canada out of the recession.
CBC has reported the accounting involved to sort out the GST for purchases made by coupon stacking is costing the federal government 1.4 billion dollars per year.
Details are expected to be announced today by Prime Minister Stephen Harper according to CTV News Net.
I’m pretty upset about this as coupon stacking is an acceptable practice and it seems like one more thing the Canadian government wants a piece of. I signed a petition to keep coupon stacking from becoming extinct and you can too.
