Honourable Mention

March 1, 2010 · 9 comments

I want to thank everyone here who spent day after day voting for my recipe to help to get it into the top three in my category.

The amount of support I received from everyone everywhere I looked was wonderful and overwhelming at times. Even getting to the point where others in the challenge had to cheat (ahem… vote irregularily) because they thought that there was no way I could possibly be getting that many votes legitimately.

The judging was apparently done last week sometime as I received a call indicating that I won the honourable mention prize.

I won:

  • Free Product Coupons ($50.00)
  • Cleaning Handbook
  • Some branded stuff

Thank you again for trying, voting and supporting my recipe.

Also – thank you to everyone who supported my recipe and continues to support me.

I am a very lucky person to be surrounded by all of you.

I'll also be posting MY Slow Cooker recipe shortly. Since I submitted that last recipe I've made my own modifications (therefor I can call it mine again) – still trying to get close to my grandma's original recipe.

My mew recipe will include my old from scratch dumpling recipe.

Thanks Marnie for sharing yours as well.

Lee. I've got a biscuit recipe from scratch that is much better than the Pillsbury one anyway. They take just minutes to make, and are delicious.

you can find it at http://www.feedingtheravenoushorde.blogspot.com

They are called buttermilk scones on the blog (one of my first posts). They work great with my own recipe that was in the contest, so I'm sure they would be fine with Sheri's as well.

Man, I really thought you'd take first prize.
Well, I'm glad I voted for you because your recipe is the one I will be making, not the winning cheaters recipe.

Congrats on what you did win! It's still a huge accomplishment to make it so far in that type of contest. Hopefully the effort you put in will pay off in some other way.

Congratulations on winning your prize.

I've been following your blog for some time now and we tried your recipe, my family loves it.

I have to admit that I echo the other comments here though. I saw that group online telling everyone exactly how to cheat and slamming you, the other contestant and Pillsbury and their affiliates. I am shocked they even let the entrant get to the final judging. And I checked today and that site is still there.

Does Pillsbury know that they catered to a bunch of 20-somethings that probably live at home with their parents and don't even buy their own food?

In the process, they alienated moms and families who used to buy their products (yes, I said used to). I will no longer buy a Pillsbury product unless I have a coupon that would give it to me for free, thus Pillsbury paying for it anyway.

Please tell me you have a recipe for dumplings from scratch so I can continue making this recipe.

You can email it to me at cystersister(at)gmail(dot)com

It really stinks that someone whose numbers had to be reviewed, and lowered because of cheating walks away with the prize!! Good lesson though about honesty, and makes me proud to run my contests without any cheating, and love that you do too Sheri!! Congrats to you and Marnie for running an honest campaign…Sad to say cheaters usually finish first though. Doesn't make me want to run out and buy Pillsbury does it? I like companies that value honesty in their contests, but also in their food quality etc….makes me really question them as a company.

As a fellow contestant who was right there with you through this Sheri and got a crash course in internet networking, I'm with you.

Can't say I'm thrilled with the final winner but I am thrilled to have met you through this journey. When I got the call last week with my Honourable mention win I was so hoping it was you who took the category.

I'm a little speechless at the moment given who won.
