Is this winter getting long for anyone else, or is it just me?
We are going through a rough patch in our household right now. Baby Bird is teething and her schedule is all over the place. We are trying to tidy and keep our house clean for when we put it on the market, February 12 is the big day. And we are going room by room and thinning out what we don’t need or want. My work is collecting clothes for Haiti right now so its perfect timing. I donated two garbage bags worth today.
All of this makes for sleepless nights, short tempers and some tears.
I’m tired and I know Papa Bird is exhausted. Papa Bird and I haven’t been out on a date since … since … I actually have no idea. Some time in mid 2009 I think.
I am now coming to understand the phrase “It takes a village to raise a child” and we don’t have a village here.
So I just want to share our tough times with you. I don’t want you reading every day thinking I am some sort of super-duper, happy-go-lucky mom all of the time, because I’m not. And I firmly believe there is no such thing, at least not without a whole lot of antidepressants!
We have been having one of those weeks as well. It's tough but we will all get through it.

I hear you on the it takes a village. Our closest family is 2.5 hours away. It is hard to do it alone. My husband and I never go out together without the kids because we can't justify the expense of a babysitter. Maybe you and your hubby can have an at home date night? Probably not until your little one is done teething. Good luck!
Yes, after a couple of counter offers, it was accepted and we did the home inspection last Friday.

Parenting isn't easy and I am happy to see you sharing your experiences. Now I'm off to get the biggest cup of coffee I have ever seen.
Oh, I also wanted to say that I am with you on the village thing. We at least have one set of grandparents semi nearby (one hour drive) but my whole family is in southern ontario (a 24-28 hour drive). I can imagine how hard it would be to have absolutely no family nearby at all.
Being a parent can be so hard and so tiring. These times happen and you do get through it. Teething is a very hard time. It could be worse timing for selling your house though, try with a 23 month old and a two week old! Yes, our realtor thought we were nuts!! But we got through it. I wish you the best of luck with the sale of your house. Can I assume your bid was accepted on the house you wanted?
