As a parent, we all want our children to learn as much as possible about the world so they can make informed decisions when they grow up and will be positive contributors to society. It helps if you can start when they are young, and you can use items that appeal to them.

Yoohoo & Friends are a plush animal toy line that features endangered animals from all over the world in their natural habitat. These toys are soft, cuddly and make a cute sound when squeezed.

While you are holding and playing with these toys, you can also build a world around them online. Yoohoofriends.com is a virtual world online where children can learn more about the plush doll they have as well as all of the others in the series. They will learn about the actual endangered animal that each doll represents including their habitat and their individual characteristics. There is a sign in required, but very limited information about your child is collected and nothing is shared.

In addition to learning about all of the pets available, kids can create and raise a virtual pet. They can design their room, feed and praise their pets. In addition, you can play games with your pet to earn credits towards buying extra fun things for their room. I opened up an account and began raising a pet and it is very easy and straight forward. I began with some credits already and was able to design a cute room for my pet. Your pets day is quite short, they wake up, you feed them, you praise them and play with them. Each time you play a game with some success, you get some more credits. I like that their days are short as you don’t want your kids playing online hour after hour. If you want you can also wake them up and start another day after they go to sleep.

The dolls are listed as appealing to children between 5 and 12 years old, but I would argue that children as young as 3 years old will enjoy them.

So now I am on the lookout for either of the ones from Canada. Named Ca / Nook (ha ha canuck) they are a couple of brother Beavers. You can buy Yoohoo & Friends from the Aurora online store.

Baby Bird enjoys these pets a lot and she loves the sound they make. It is nice that we can go online and I can teach her a little more about the world around her through her toys. When I received the plush toys, they had a tag attached to them that spoke about Yoohoo & Friends and had the website attached. My only feedback was that I wish they had also included a tag that had the pets name or origin attached to them. It wasn’t a biggie though as I was able to go online and search them out.
