Joey’s Global Grill & Lounge in Edmonton is not worth the hassle in my opinion. If you want a nice night out in Edmonton with great service, then go somewhere else! Even the reviews here aren’t very flattering.
I went to the Joey’s Global Grill & Lounge in Mayfield Plaza with three girlfriends. When we got our receipt it stated on it that “Every Customer Leaves Happy” and had a website where we could send in our feedback. So I sent them off an email through their contact site on December 21, 2009 – and never heard back (I think 3 weeks is enough time, don’t you?).
Here’s what I wrote:
Myself and three friends met for dinner and our order was taken and input into the system at 7:33PM. A couple of them ordered appetizers which we had to follow up on. The appetizers didn’t arrive until 8:40. I’ve never heard of appetizers taking 1 hour and 10 minutes.
That wasn’t even our meal. That didn’t end up arriving to our table until well after 9:00PM, over an hour and a half after our order was taken. I couldn’t even tell you what my Lobster Ravioli tasted like as I was too busy scarfing it down as we were so hungry by the time our food finally came. I understand it gets busy, but tables all around us (even those that arrived well after we did) were receiving their meals ahead of us. Our final bill came to $178.68 and none of us enjoyed any of it.
We also had plans after our dinner which had to be canceled because dinner took too long. Our final bill was printed at 9:50pm. There were no apologies, no manager coming out to see what could be done, no nothing. I noticed on the bill it read that “Every Customer Leaves Happy”, and I wanted to tell you about four of us that didn’t.
Update: I waited 3 weeks for a response, then wrote this post and submitted a second feedback form. I was contacted the same day and after some phone tag, we finally were able to chat. I spoke to Nick, the manager of the Joey’s in Mayfield and he apologized for the lack of prompt service that we received.
They invited the four of us back to try to recreate the type of evening we had hoped to have in the first place.
Seeing as the four of us friends all have families and other commitments, we weren’t able to go back together until February 19, 2010.




































I haven't had a very good experience the last few years we have gone. So, we just place an order for take out instead. It's ready when we arrive, hot, and we check it before we leave. Never had issues with it that way at least, but as far as dining in…I just don't get why it's always so busy!
Wow, those reviews you linked to are pretty bad!
Especially the person with the tofu/chicken mix up. That is horrible! Scares me to think what would happen if the person had been allergic to something. From the reviews though sounds like the food is good, maybe they just need to hire a whole new staff!!
