Skype FREETALK® Connect 2 – 12 Days Review & Giveaway (Closed)

November 4, 2009 · 184 comments

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

skype logo
Many of you know about and probably use Skype to keep in touch with friends and family. Since finding Skype a couple of months ago, I’ve been using it every day to keep in touch with both sides of our family. The best part about Skype? It’s FREE and it’s clear.

I’ve used other programs for talking online in the past and none of them hold a candle to Skype. With Skype, the images look more clear, the voices sound like I am talking on the phone and my screen doesn’t freeze any more. We chat with our family in Winnipeg, and with my parents who are RVing full time and are currently in Brownsville, Texas. I love it and it is so nice for our family to be able to call over and see Baby Bird whenever they want to. Right now Baby Bird loves to show everyone her nose on Skype. Everyone even got to see her in her Halloween outfit.

Buddy CamSkype sent me a FREETALK Buddy Cam and earbud set to review. The webcam is shaped like a little body and the head of the body holds the camera. The arms and legs are flexible and can be moved to grasp or hang on surface. There is also a clip at the back of the camera. The focus on the camera can also be adjusted if needed.

The earbuds are made to wind up into their case which is great for travel and they won’t get tangled up in your bag. They are clear and they fit comfortably into my ear. I used the earbuds at the begining to do the review, but I don’t use them daily while chatting with my family because Baby Bird, being the social butterfly that she is, likes to be in on the conversations too.

This is such a great set, and a great gift idea for anyone who can’t be close during the holidays. If you are wondering what to get your family or friends that live far away for the holidays, this is a great gift idea. Skype also has a Connect 2 set that essentially includes 2 Buddy cams and two earbuds. This way you get one for yourself, and can pass one on to someone you would like to see over the holidays! You can search their various items and accessories in the Skype shop.

Connect 2Skype has generously offered one lucky This Bird’s Day reader a set of FREETALK Connect 2 (set of 2 webcams and earbuds) of their own as a giveaway.

To enter (mandatory entry): Leave a comment at the end of this post telling me who you will use this to chat with over the holidays (please include your email or a way to contact you should you win). *You must do this for any additional entries to count.

After you have completed the first entry, you can enter an additional comment one time only for each of the following:

  • Become a public follower of This Bird’s Day (either in the right sidebar or through Facebook at the bottom of this page).
  • Follow This Bird’s Day on Twitter AND tweet about this giveaway linking to this post. Please include your twitter id in your comment (you must do both for this one to count).
  • Be a confirmed email subscriber to my updates (at the bottom right of this page). Simply enter your email address, confirm it and you will receive email updates when I make a new post. This will let you know when there is new content and giveaways on my site.

I would use this to chat with my Mom and give her a chance to 'spend more time' with her only grandchild.

I would actually give it to my parents and my aunt so that they could talk and see each other more often.

What a great giveaway. Thanks,

I would use this with my parents, as they live in Nova Scotia and I live in Alberta.

we use skype almost daily, i talk to most people like that!! It's fun even for regular local calls, and you can show people stuff. Would be great for learning xmas recipes, or if you can't be with your family during the holidays, they can seat this and a computer at your seat so you can follow along!
