Got Water?

I realized the other week that I throw away a lot of water unnecessarily. I don’t know if you do this, but have you ever been so thirsty, you pour yourself a big glass of water only to be able to drink half of it?

Do you use the other half or does it go down the drain like mine used to?

I started using what was left over in my water cup (and Baby Bird’s too) to water our plants in the house. This way we save water, some cents on our water bill and we kill two birds with one stone.

Just make sure you even it out if you have a lot of houseplants or only the ones closest to the sink will get water :)

One other tip with conserving your tap water. Do you run the tap for a couple of minutes to get the water cold? Keep a pitcher near your tap and run the water into it. You can use this water for watering your plants inside or out. You can also use the extra water to put it into a pot for boiling things at dinner time, or to boil for tea, coffee or hot chocolate. You can even fill your ice cube trays!

Just because the water isn’t cold, doesn’t mean it can’t be used for a different purpose. Just run it into the jug and save it for when you need it.

Alternatively, you can just put the jug of extra water into the fridge and use it the next time you are thirsty for ice cold water.

If you have any other tips that you can use the extra water for, please share it in the comments below for everyone to read.

Thank you for the great Idea…I am guilty of letting the water run to get cold and then complaining about the water bill when it comes. I am going to start filling a pitcher up to reuse water for something else. Thank you

That's a great idea Elonda. I have two cats and I never even thought of that one!!!

    Great ideas Sheri,

I also try to save water by topping up dog dish water bowl with left over water and also filling up the kettle as it gets boiled anyways.
These are a few more tips on saving water.
Have a great day and voted once again for your baking challenge!
