Since Baby Bird arrived in our world just over one year ago I have become very aware that I could and should do more to protect the environment around us. After all I want her to enjoy nature as I did when I was a kid. Not only that, but I want to instill a sense of responsibility for doing her part in preserving our environment. And I want to lead by example.
I was at my gym a few weeks ago and I read about Otterbottle, a company located in Calgary, Alberta. I had also read some great things online about them. Shannon Andrukow is the creator behind Otterbottle. She wanted to create a water bottle that was environmentally friendly, made by a Canadian company and had style — and she did! Each Otterbottle is 100%, 18/8 grade stainless steel. They are BPA-free and earth-friendly and there is surely a design to suit everyone’s individual style.
I was sent a 750ml Blue/Brown Flower Power to review. All of the water bottles come with a regular twist lid, a sports lid with twist top and a carabiner. For me, drinking water out of a metal containter tastes much cleaner than drinking it out of a plastic container. The first time I used this water bottle it reminded me of being a kid. I remember drinking out of my dad’s canteen and the water just tasted more crisp, more natural. I also like that the container keeps my water cold longer. I’ve also gotten a few great comments on the design and colours. I only wish there were Otterbottles for infants as well.
Not only are the bottles environmentally friendly, but the company is too. With every bottle sold, a contribution is made to the David Suzuki Foundation. Otterbottle is also a proud member of REAP (Respect for the Earth and All People), a not-for-profit association of Calgary businesses that are concerned with issues of sustainability.
There are 3 different sizes to choose from and their new fall colours are out. I LOVE fall colours. Browns, oranges and purples — oh my! The water bottles are only available for shipping within Canada at this time. The water bottles are available in three different sizes; 500ml for $15.99, 750ml for $16.99 and 900ml for $12.99. I like the Pink Vine. It is very stylish, yet classic and perfect for my return to work. I am so excited that there are new, good for the enviroment lunch and water bottle options for working moms!
I would be hard pressed to choose between the white daisy on black 750 ml and the owl on orange 750 ml, guess I would just have to have two!
All the Otterbottles have unique designs but if I was to win one, I would select the Cherry Blossum.

I'd love the dragonfly on the purple bottle. My daughters use these bottles all the time and give anyone heck who uses plastic water bottles.
I really like the Orange Purple Flower Power. It must remind me of youth as I was a teen in in the 60s.I also like that it comes in a large size.
