Escaping Toxic Guilt – Book Review & Giveaway (Closed)

escaping Escaping Toxic Guilt Book Review & Giveaway (Closed)If you’ve been reading lately, you know Baby Bird started daycare a couple of weeks ago. What you don’t know is the enormous amount of guilt I felt the first week she was there. I didn’t know I was feeling guilty though. I was quiet, testy, angry, frustrated and I couldn’t enjoy myself. At the same time I had started reading Escaping Toxic Guilt: Five Proven Steps to Free Yourself from Guilt for Good! by Susan Carrell that I received from Author Marketing Experts, Inc.

Poor Papa Bird had to put up with my moodiness for a whole week (I’m sorry honey!). While reading this book, I realized that I felt guilty because I felt as though I was letting her down by not being with her every second of the day. For us, our reasons for having her in daycare far outweigh any reasons for keeping her at home. And when I pick her up from daycare now, she is so happy. Whether you choose daycare or not, there is no wrong answer, you have to do what benefits you and your family the most. Once I realized all of this, I also realized that my feelings of guilt weren’t necessary.Had I not recognized my feelings as guilt, I would probably still be a little moody and Poor Papa Bird wouldn’t have known what he did wrong (which is nothing!).

Guilt comes in all shapes and sizes so not all parts of this book will speak to everyone, but there is something in it for us all. I found the sections on recognizing guilt very informative and my favorite section was about parental guilt and the importance of establishing boundaries with kids.

Author Marketing Experts, Inc. has offered one of my readers their own copy of this book.

I feel guilty for telling a work friend recently that I could not attend her baby shower because I had a really bad migraine. I did not but it was sunday and I was feeling really lazy.

I think every mother feels guilty at one point or another! It's part of the job description. I feel guilty if I let my kid's watch too much TV when I'm tired.

Yep, just like you most of my guilt is mom guilt. I also feel guilty that I don't clean my house as much as I should!

This would be a great book for me!

I hate to admit it, but I feel guilty for getting sick! Whenever I do get sick, it's always something major and my husband has to take off of work. Silly, I know. But so frustrating!

I am in the EXACT same situation as you. I dropped my daughter off at day care for the first time today. When I left she was fine. When I came back she was hysterical, swollen eyes from crying ALL day. I felt so guilty!
