Wow, did I ever get some news I wasn’t expecting yesterday. Just before Papa Bird got home, I got a call from the daycare we were on a waiting list for.
They have a spot for Baby Bird.
There is a catch to it though, they have one spot for a 12 month old and they need someone who can start in July. Baby Bird doesn’t turn one until July 19, so she is just there. We would most likely need to pay for July, and she would start in August.
So I am all about saving and making good financial decisions, but this is the best daycare we found. I think we are going to take it. Actually, I know we are. We are just waiting to hear from my work about my return to work request. So I won’t be taking an additional year off.
This was a tough decision to make. Papa Bird and I talked about it last night and I spent one sleepless night tossing and turning. There is so much to consider, but this is the right choice for us. I would have loved to spend another year with my Baby Bird, but she will benefit a lot from this experience as well. This daycare really involves the parents in everything and I am also welcome to go with her for the first couple of weeks.
I also have the comfort of knowing that our decision is not set in stone. It is worth trying, then after a few months, if Baby Bird is not happy, we will re-assess.
I will also have my lunch hours and breaks to myself at work so I expect I will get more posting done.
Great news Sheri! Happy to hear Elliet is in a good daycare. She will make a lot of friends. See you soon.
